Welcome to Grand Rapids' Knapp Charter Academy
Knapp Charter Academy is one of National Heritage Academies Schools. We offer a safe and structured academic environment where children are taught virtues like honesty and respect. Our program not only supports state academic standards, but also provides a unique, college-bound approach that delivers the specific knowledge and skills students are expected to master in each subject area at each grade level.
Our community, parents, administration, students, and staff, work in partnership toward excellence, striving together to provide an excellent academic experience for all of our elementary and middle school students.
Exemplary Standards
- We are striving to get 100% of our students reading at or above grade level. Knapp Charter Academy’s curriculum is accelerated and very challenging.
- All of our elementary and middle school students receive a minimum of 1½ hours of reading and math instruction daily.
- Students are clustered to receive personal support from well trained para-educators and reading specialists.
- All of our parents and students sign a Commitment to Excellence contract ensuring they understand that our family members are expected to fully commit to our standards.
- Students must complete homework each night and follow our Code of Conduct.
- Parents support their children by holding them accountable, checking homework, and volunteering in the school.
- Knapp Charter Academy reinforces the virtues that parents teach at home. Our Moral Focus program awards positive behavior and prepares our students to become good citizens.
